Brilliant

Feels like some kind of parody on rock n' roll. Apart from the mixing, not a bad one. Maybe lacks a drum solo, guitar solo, bass solo and an instrumental part, etc. But the lyrics are better than anything I would ever think of, sadly.
By the way, you could try blaming your dick angst on society or the state and thereby explore the punk genre. Or try metal by letting heavy guitars back you while you're chanting the song at norse gods. Hip hop would probably also be doable, you'd need more swearing though.
It's funny how the possibilities are endless.

The nourishment my ears love.

It has been said that the way to a man's love is through his stomach.
Listening to the first ~30 seconds of this song was like listening to the most delicious experiment any kitchen's ever come up with.
The careful, yet, determined fade-in could be described as the point where you're getting your food served and just can't wait to dig your teeth into it.
Impatient and hungry, you cannot wait, and at 00:15 the first bite is swallowed and the flavours entrance the body.

But towards the middle it got a bit weak, like most foods, it wasn't as great as it seemed at first. The flavours are not varied, I hear pathetic attempts at varying the first pattern. Though these variations are not too bad, frankly they don't bother me much, I still feel like they are what's keeping me from rating this 10/10.

Otherwise, there's really only positive things I can say. The transitions are impeccable, bass is fitting, chords, drums, everything is great.
Not to mention the outro, that really makes me want more, want to loop the whole thing; even though it is the same pattern as in the intro, isn't it?
Great job!

Chernoshtan, I hope I will be hearing more songs from you.

Ready, set, GO!

This is the kind of music that makes me think positively about the fact that I'm sitting at home, in front of my computer, on Valentine's Day.
I can imagine this being in a racing game, in fact, I'm imagining that non-stop right now. It makes the adrenalin flow and the heart beat faster.
Great job!

Psy-nigma responds:

Valentines is spent with music for me too lol. Its a part of my life and just shows you how much the world becomes a better place with harmonies of sound.

Thanks for the review!

(This is a bad summary for) an awesome track

This is really one of the best best tracks I've heard on Newgrounds.
It's got an awesome ostinato, and the atmosphere it creates is beyond the limits of my vocabulary. Just like music's supposed to be, it cannot be explained, only experienced.

Psy-nigma responds:

Thanks for the review!

comments like these keep me fueled to continue working with music.

See you around!

I'm in love

I just recently wrote a review on you first submitted piece saying it was one of the best things I've heard on the portal... well, this one is probably even better.
You Sir, have great skills.

viion responds:

:P Make ya mind up lol, glad you enjoyed it, I'll try do more like the 2 songs for a good fan =)

This song is too good for me to review =P

You have a great song here. Unlike many remixes I've heard, it never gets boring, and it manages to maintain the sort of mystical feeling, or spirit, of the original song. I cannot imagine, but I understand, the amount of time that must have been spent on this.
If I were to break this song down I'd say it consists of around 10 parts. This is a crude assumption, not to be taken as a fact. Each of those parts contains a significant change to the progress of the song (I won't go deeper into this though).
What is interesting here is that the melody generally stays the same. It is everything else that changes and keeps the song varied. There are many changes in synths, effects, drums, dynamics, and stuff that I cannot express properly due to an improperly developed vocabulary.
There is one significant exception to this though, namely an flawless guitar part that slowly builds up and explodes into a breathtaking ad lib (at least that's the feeling it gives me). If someone for some unfair reason would have any thoughts about this song being repetitive, they would probably HAVE to change their mind at this part.
There is one last thing I would like to mention, not that I have mentioned much, but I would really like to say that the transitions are superb. Those parts I mentions, you won't notice them unless you focus on listening for them. All the changes that are made throughout the song feel very natural.
Simply said, if you let your guard down and just listen to this, it will carry you away. That is also why I find it difficult to write a review for this, I don't want to analyze this song, I just want to listen to it; over and over again. But I promised I would, so there it is =D

Psy-nigma responds:

Thanks BloodyN00b,
I really apreciate the time you spent writing a very thoughtful and natural review about the flow of the song and how it keeps the hype and motivation in the listener to be pulled into the arrangement. The song inspires even me after I have worked on it to continue to try and bring that kind of energy into the other songs that I write.

Sounds are essential to music. but so is the construction. It is important to consider both when working on a song. If the beat soundz awesome and the melody is just as awesome and soundly the beat and the melody work together. Thats when you have a song. and that is what people want to listen to something that rythmically entertains the ear.

Good beat, bad mastring

The intro synth was interesting, it did what an intro should; make you wonder what will come next. Well, what happened was that it switched into another synth, with less energy, and further into even less energy, in my opinion.
Now, if I were to take this whole synth switching as the introduction of the song, not just the first synth, I have to tell you it sounds more like an outro with slowly degrading energy. In my opinion, the intro should build up energy instead of letting it go.

However, after that it feels like the drums slap the decaying intro across the face and take over the song with their friend, the bass synth. And I must say I really love that part, it's a great boost of energy right there.
However, I do not really like waiting for that boost of energy for so long, just to hear it decay again soon after, when you force the attention over to the bass, which doesn't really want the attention.

After that part, the song is basically over, because you try to force in a piano which doesn't know what it's supposed to be doing there. This, you try to compensate by trying to replicate the energy boost from earlier simply by playing the same drum pattern as earlier again. This time, however, the drum loses the fight with the piano, and it simply sounds weird.

After that the nuclear war starts. I don't know if it is a kick that is added, but it sounds like a huge explosion, and it hits often, hurting my ears a little every time. However, at this part you also added a very cool variation to the bass, which sounds liquid and is good.

Since you have named this song "Inside the Madness", I guess that you want it to sound a bit mad. And I'm telling you it does, which is good because it lives up to it's title, but I think that there still is room for smoother transitions between sounds, and perhaps a bit more varied sounds.

To wrap things up, it sounds like the instruments are fighting with each other in this song. I get the picture of a violent, never ending, elimination race between them. As if they think that the only one left at the end of it would be the best sounding one. Never ending it is, because you keep adding new sounds as the old ones get left behind, or eliminated. It could have something to do with the genre, I'm not sure, but in my opinion instruments should co-operate with each other. Make the race a relay race instead of elimination, so to speak.
As tough as that may sound, it's mostly a question of mastering I think. From what I've read, seen, heard, and even tried a little myself, effects can really make a difference. You should give it some more work, I really think that this song could become great!
I have listened to your other songs and I'd say that you are certainly getting better and better. So keep up the good work!

I hope that this review will be of any use to you, I wrote it from a very, very, subjective point of view, and I don't know much about the genre. But I hope it is at least a little constructive =)

Stormfucker responds:

Thank you for the long, yet informing response. I'd admit that personally I feel GLAD that somebody on the internet is ready to type so much words for me and that those words even make sense. I will try and take your advice and implement it in a new song, though I personally find it harder to make this so-called balanced competition between the different instruments.

On a more defensive note, not that I'm saying my song is good or anything, but about it sounding mad, well that was REALLY on purpose. Thank you for YOUR time!

Calm

First off I want to apologize for a potentially bad review, since I'm sitting up late, burning the midnight oil :P
But this is a loop that really forces my fingers to write down a couple of words. But what can I say?
The beauty of simplicity can really be enchanting. I feel like as I finish writing this, I'll head off to bed, carrying this tune in my mind. I know it will inspire peaceful and relaxing dreams.
If it will have the same effect on me when I'll play Dark Cut 3, it will greatly add to the difficulty of the game :)
Keep up the good work.

MaestroRage responds:

thanks BloodyN00b! I hope that the melody can soothe you into the night rather then rob you of it XD. Sometimes I get a melody stuck in my head and just can't fall asleep for hours because of it.

I think you will enjoy Dark Cut 3, I certainly hope you do :D! Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Nice song

Some songs sometimes seem (at least to me) to be hiding some secret message, which make me focus on the listening (kinda like reading an essay). Some songs make me imagine things, like epic battles or romantic sunsets.
This song does nothing like that. It just feels like this song flows through my ears, making me relaxed not having to imagine/decipher anything, which actually makes me feel quite happy as well.

Michael425 responds:

Awesome man, I'm glad you found that deeper meaning.

Thanks for your review.

Oh man

The drum samples are really great, but I'd be more interested in those strings, sounds so simple, but still so catchy. Lots of time and hard work must have been put into this =P
I wish I could make stuff like this.

I hope this wins.
