Good beat, bad mastring
The intro synth was interesting, it did what an intro should; make you wonder what will come next. Well, what happened was that it switched into another synth, with less energy, and further into even less energy, in my opinion.
Now, if I were to take this whole synth switching as the introduction of the song, not just the first synth, I have to tell you it sounds more like an outro with slowly degrading energy. In my opinion, the intro should build up energy instead of letting it go.
However, after that it feels like the drums slap the decaying intro across the face and take over the song with their friend, the bass synth. And I must say I really love that part, it's a great boost of energy right there.
However, I do not really like waiting for that boost of energy for so long, just to hear it decay again soon after, when you force the attention over to the bass, which doesn't really want the attention.
After that part, the song is basically over, because you try to force in a piano which doesn't know what it's supposed to be doing there. This, you try to compensate by trying to replicate the energy boost from earlier simply by playing the same drum pattern as earlier again. This time, however, the drum loses the fight with the piano, and it simply sounds weird.
After that the nuclear war starts. I don't know if it is a kick that is added, but it sounds like a huge explosion, and it hits often, hurting my ears a little every time. However, at this part you also added a very cool variation to the bass, which sounds liquid and is good.
Since you have named this song "Inside the Madness", I guess that you want it to sound a bit mad. And I'm telling you it does, which is good because it lives up to it's title, but I think that there still is room for smoother transitions between sounds, and perhaps a bit more varied sounds.
To wrap things up, it sounds like the instruments are fighting with each other in this song. I get the picture of a violent, never ending, elimination race between them. As if they think that the only one left at the end of it would be the best sounding one. Never ending it is, because you keep adding new sounds as the old ones get left behind, or eliminated. It could have something to do with the genre, I'm not sure, but in my opinion instruments should co-operate with each other. Make the race a relay race instead of elimination, so to speak.
As tough as that may sound, it's mostly a question of mastering I think. From what I've read, seen, heard, and even tried a little myself, effects can really make a difference. You should give it some more work, I really think that this song could become great!
I have listened to your other songs and I'd say that you are certainly getting better and better. So keep up the good work!
I hope that this review will be of any use to you, I wrote it from a very, very, subjective point of view, and I don't know much about the genre. But I hope it is at least a little constructive =)
